12/1/2014: Skiing and Snowboarding - Oh yeah

Heading up the Blackcomb Gondola
We woke up kind of late this morning. Too late to get up the hill nice and early. We opted to go up for the half day - which began at 12.30pm. We had a quick breakfast and got ourselves into our snow gear and headed down to the base of Blackcomb and grabbed our passes.

Once we headed up the Magic chair and skiied down to the base of Whistler mountain - I had my confidence back enough to head up the mountain. We caught the gondola up to Olympic Station and then skiied/boarded down to the base again. Craig finally got to test out his GoPro camera and is really happy with it. (See photos attached of us skiing/boarding - they are stills from the camera). We then caught the Blackcomb Excalibur Gondola up to the top of the Gondola run and skiied/boarded down to our 'home' trail. This was about two hours worth of skiing and boarding for us (with a few stops in between - I'm a lot slower than Craig) - and we could have gone for another run - but it was almost 3pm and the lifts close at 3.

We came back to our apartment and watched the footage from the GoPro - it's awesome! We now understand why so many people on the mountains have these.

We're now sitting on the couch after a hot tub, dinner and dessert - watching the Golden Globe Awards - it's cool being able to watch the awards in real time, and in the same time zone. :-) We have a meeting with our Photographer tomorrow! Can't wait to meet her! Anastasia is currently in the P&G Olympic commercials that are airing here - she's the snowboarding mum!
